Each object: fake apple, pizza cutting tool, purple sponge, pair of red pliers and pearl-coloured soapbox - has its own sound in the headphones: cracking of a plastic bag, clattering , tinkling, and so on. There is no obvious connection between the object and the sound. Meanings and connections are artificial - just like those between a word and its meaning, a letter and its pronunciation, as shown in the alphabet plate on the wall. It is possible that reality is a language that can be deciphered, but its meanings are flexible, and that there is always a mysterious connection between two items from the different contexts. This work was strongly inspired by the idea of somebody experiencing synesthesia associating certain numbers with certain colours, and the mystery/lack of true reasons behind these associations, which relates to the problems of semiotics and language in general.
